Disclaimer

Last updated: [date]. This is a prototype draft prepared from common-practice wording used by tax and financial-information providers. It should be reviewed by a lawyer qualified in Singapore and India before launch.

The short version: Tideline gives you information to plan the timing of your move. It is not tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice, and it does not replace your own Chartered Accountant. Don't act on it without professional advice for your situation.

No rendering of advice

The information provided on this website and through the Tideline tool is for general informational and planning purposes only. It is not intended to be, and must not be taken as a substitute for, obtaining tax, accounting, legal, financial, or other professional advice from a qualified professional (for example, a Chartered Accountant or lawyer). Presentation of this information is not intended to create, and your use of it does not constitute, any advisor–client relationship.

You are advised not to act upon any information or plan produced by Tideline without seeking advice from a qualified professional about your specific circumstances.

Directional estimates only

Tideline is a move-timing planner. Any dates, windows, figures, or "tax at stake" ranges it produces are directional planning estimates, generated from the information you enter and from simplified assumptions about residency and asset treatment. They are not a calculation of your actual Indian tax liability and are not a tax return. Your final tax position depends on the specific type and timing of each gain or income, applicable exchange rates, your overall income, and rules this tool does not fully model. Actual results will differ.

Scope

Tideline is built for Indian citizens and persons of Indian origin (PIOs) returning from Singapore to India. Its residency timing uses a simplified heuristic based on the 182-day test and does not model India's alternate 60+365-day test, the 120-day rule for high-income visiting citizens/PIOs, or deemed-residency rules. It is best suited to return-timing decisions, not long-term post-move tax structuring or filing. If any of those situations may apply to you, confirm your status with a qualified professional.

Accuracy of information

While we use reasonable efforts to provide accurate and up-to-date information, tax laws and rates change, and we do not warrant that any information made available through Tideline is accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free. We assume no liability or responsibility for any errors or omissions.

"As is" basis

This website is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, and your use of it is at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, and we shall not be liable for any damages of any kind arising from your use of the website or any plan it produces. This disclaimer should be read together with our Terms of Service.

On exchange rates and currency

Where Tideline shows amounts in Singapore dollars, it converts Indian-rupee tax figures using an indicative exchange rate for clarity. Indian tax is assessed and paid in rupees, and the rate that applies to your situation depends on the relevant transaction dates. The SGD figures shown are therefore approximate and for planning only.
